This past weekend was an awesome Mother's Day Weekend! The rain kept us indoors most of Saturday, but we did our best given the weather - digging dinosaur fossils, coloring, and singing songs. Sunday is where the weekend took things to a whole new level. We woke up early to make chocolate chip pancakes and have our flowers and Mother's Day cards ready for Mom, which was promptly followed by painting a rocket ship to hang on the door. We had a great time earlier today. Our family took a drive to a local nursery to get some ideas for Mother's Day planting in the backyard. Mom typically does an amazing job planting different flowers - with a nice dahlia garden, while Dad spends his time on the fig tree and the peach tree. This weekend was a bit of a washout and definitely colder than the past few days, but the boys were not upset. We threw on our rain jackets and jumped in the puddles! The rain also raised some great questions from the boys like 'Why does it rain' and 'Where do the animals go when it rains'? (The questions are getting tougher as they get older.) We're usually walking to and from town or the local school as a way to grab some outside time, and enjoy the great neighborhood we live in...It helps that there's a great coffee shop in town for Mom & Dad that serves up crumb cake for the boys. If the weather allows, fresh air is a must. We have multiple modes of transportation including bikes, scooters, toy cars, and a wagon (if the kids have a large haul of snacks in tow). We go to the city on a regular basis to visit Dad's office, eat hot dogs, and most importantly - ride on the train...Our boys are in full transportation mode and love anything that moves including airplanes, cars, trucks and trains. Both of our boys enjoy school - where the older one (a massive Lightning McQueen fan) is attending Pre-K and the younger guy (a huge supporter of Paw Patrol) is in a 2's program. We celebrated our younger son's 2nd birthday in November, and it was epic. Mom started the day with a full line-up of his stuffed animal friends ready to greet him when he stepped out of his bedroom. Dad took the day off from work, so we could go to the diner for breakfast where we went a teeny-bit overboard and ordered a chocolate milk. After work, the family celebrated the birthday with a "Two-nado" theme given our son's ability to enter any room like an absolute Tornado. W

We like a jam-packed weekend! (Dad is guilty as charged of cramming too many things into a given weekend.) But both of our boys love the nearby museums - especially the Children's Museum, which has previously hosted holiday exhibits like ice-skating or Thomas & Friends.
