On Jenn Being a Mother - By Mike

Dear Future Kids,

There are very few things that carry 100% certainty. Somehow a new "what-if" scenario will creep up that upends an entire plan. But I can tell you that I know with all my heart that Jenn will be a loving mother to you.

She is loving and caring, tender and strong, honest and true. You can see it in how she lives her day-to-day life. If something is bothering you, she will give you a shoulder to lean on and two ears to listen to the issue. If you need help with something, she will come over to give a lending hand. She has patience beyond patience and a moral compass that hasn't wavered since the day we first met. Jenn is a standing example of what people envision when they describe family values and work ethic, and she makes me a better person.

Jenn is kind and loving. It shows up in the small, little actions that occur throughout the day. She is the godmother to our niece, and watching the two of them draw chalk on the sidewalk or blow bubbles in the backyard is a real blessing. Both their faces light up with joy and laughter, just from spending time together. This past weekend, Jenn and our niece spent the better part of the afternoon playing with Barbie dolls and snacking on apples.

Jenn is active and will push herself to the max. Since we moved into our house, she has been adamant about going for morning or evening walks, carving out time in the day for a workout routine, or doing yoga. I think part of her competitive spirit manifests itself when she is engaged in one of her workouts, which is why she works so hard but it's always in a playful manner. I have no doubt she'll be running you around the yard and taking you to the local park to explore the jungle gym.

Jenn has a caring and passionate personality. Seeing how quickly she picked up on the diaper changing and feeding for our niece was amazing. And seeing how she interacts with the other children at the park and on walks demonstrates her fun and nurturing nature.

I cannot wait to see Jenn become a mother.
