Love as the Foundation

Hey Little Ones. Your mother and my wedding anniversary is coming up, and I thought I'd take a minute to explain the kind of home we're building for you.

Since our wedding day, we've been through a lot. We've laughed and cried joyfully at birthdays, family and friends' weddings, and while sitting around the dinner table during the holidays. We've learned the true definition of the word loss or the scare of an unplanned visit to the hospital. We've built friendships in our local community with some of the very best people we've ever met. And we've relied heavily on our family who has always been there for love and support.

I think back on all this because it's tough to comprehend how four years has flown by so quickly since your mother and I were married. There's a common phrase that 'the days drag on, but the years fly by'. Time is precious. It's incapable of being reversed. It marches to the beat of its own drum.

But if there is one thing I could impress upon you, it would be that through it all, the overarching plot line has been love. Unbounded, unabashed, unwavering love. It sits on the dinner table when we're having taco night. It cheers in the lawn when we're playing cornhole. It claps from the counter when we're slow dancing in the kitchen.

Love fills this home of ours and this relationship your mother and I share. It is the very foundation we stand on and core to who we are.

And we love you. We don't know you yet, and I'm sure it's tough to understand. But we love you. We can't wait to provide you with all the little things that make up a life.

We'll meet soon...and please remind your father to tell mom how much she means to him.

Love,

Dad

Happy Wedding Anniversary
