A Day Upstate

Dear Future Children,

Your mother and I made a day-trip upstate to see a close family friend, Jackie. She's been in Jenn's life since college and in mine since Jenn and I started dating. As crazy as it sounds, it was my first trip even though Jenn's made the trip a number of times before me.

It was awesome seeing Jenn and Jackie re-connect, but the real highlight for me was seeing Jackie's family and the love they share. She has an incredible husband named Steve who runs himself ragged working long hours and somehow still finds the time and energy to run around the yard playing with their two-year old daughter, Winnie.

Winnie absolutely stole the day and rightfully so. She drove her Minnie Mouse car in the backyard. She lost and found a penguin toy on the boat ride. She sang Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star for us (on repeat and in key). And she gave us a guided tour of the neighborhood's Halloween decorations.

It was a great day to share with Jackie and her family, and a reminder of the love and family your mother and I hope to share with you some day.
